Enrollment and Registration

While students may be enrolled in Stonegate throughout the year, formal registration for all new and returning students takes place during the month of May each year. Parents/legal guardians may complete the necessary paperwork to enroll their children at this time. Please note that textbook and other student fees will be collected throughout the summer months.
* Students new to the corporation need to bring their original birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency to registration prior to being enrolled within Zionsville Community Schools.

Kindergarten Roundup

Kindergarten Roundup is the process by which all future kindergarten students are pre-registered. Stonegate Elementary typically holds its Kindergarten Round-up in April of each year. Please bring your child’s original birth certificate, a copy of immunization records, 2 proofs of residency, and a current picture of your child to the Kindergarten Roundup appointment.
* Please note: If your child is 5 years of age on or before August 1 of the enrollment year, per Indiana state law he/she may register for kindergarten. If he/she is 5 years of age on or before August 31 of the enrollment year, per the ZCS school board policy parents may request to appeal of the August 1st enrollment date by completing the appeal form.

Learning Foundations & Beliefs

Stonegate Literacy believes a skillful and knowledgeable teacher, not the method or program, makes the difference in creating proficient readers and writers. Literacy learning is developmental, continuous, and happens repeatedly over the course of a child’s lifetime. We acknowledge that students need large amounts of time to interact with text in order to practice and refine their reading and writing skills, acquire new knowledge and concepts, build fluency and vocabulary, and develop positive attitudes toward reading and writing. We promote reading and writing instruction that is integrated across all subject areas, with comprehension being the ultimate goal of literacy instruction.

Open House/Ice Cream Social

Open House is held prior to the first day of school each year. We welcome and encourage parents, students and members of the school community to attend, view classrooms, meet the teachers and staff and see what Stonegate Elementary is all about. Please join us as we embrace a new and exciting school year.

Parent Teacher Conferences

While parents are welcome to contact their child’s teacher at any time throughout the school year, formal parent-teacher conferences are held in October. Be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher regarding appointment times.
